Debug SSL certificates on Wowza

To best debug SSL connections on Wowza, you can add a couple of properties that will output more information regarding the SSL cert and the connection(s) to the server.  This can be done during the situation where the logs demonstrate the initial loading of the jks file is good.  If not, you’ll want to debug the jks file itself and/or the password.

1. This property, sslLogProtocolInfo, will output SSL certificate information on server startup.

Where: [install-dir]/conf/Server.xml in the Properties section at the bottom of the file.
What:

<Property>
<Name>sslLogProtocolInfo</Name>
<Value>true</Value>
<Type>Boolean</Type>
</Property>

2.  In addition to the above, it’s also useful to debug connections (or attempts) from clients trying to leverage the SSL.

Where: [install-dir]/conf/VHost.xml in the Properties section at the bottom of the file.
What:

<Property>
<Name>sslLogConnectionInfo</Name>
<Value>true</Value>
<Type>Boolean</Type>
</Property>
